Art Portfolio

Even though I'm a writer by trade, I also enjoy using more experimental media. View some of my more visual pieces down below.

Nickel Wire and Yarn

From The Heart was created using almost 50 feet of 16 and 20 gauge nickel wire. The design follows an IV bracelet-shape up my arm, around my torso, and to my mouth. The yarn at my mouth is representational of the words I metaphorically 'bleed' in both my writing and in person.

Created on InDesign

This digital design project incorporated my writing into a new medium. I used references and selective tracing to create the basic wave shape, then morphed the resulting form to fit my poetic story detailing the personality and life of water. The story was written specifically for this project.

Charcoal Pencils on Sketchbook Paper

Mickey The Mouse was created for my roommate, who continually tries to convince me that art is just shapes. She told me to draw Mickey Mouse, but I decided to take that as a joke and created a mouse with Mickey ears.

Collage and Colored Pencil on Bristol

Pyramid of Apopis was created using hundreds of individually cut scales of decorative texture paper. These pieces were then attached to the bristol paper using double-sided tape. The pyramid and the snake head are printed images. The sun, rays, and background were drawn with colored pencils.

Chalk on Flat Paint

Several years ago, I turned one of my bedroom walls into a chalk wall. However, I didn't realize the opportunity to turn the process of cleaning the wall and replacing the artwork into a time-lapse until recently.

Paint on Sculpey

Pretzalcoatl was created by building a wire and tin foil skeleton upon which the Sculpey was placed, textured, and painted. It is a combination of a soft-baked pretzel and the Aztec Quetzalcoatl.
